Overview
Sylhet is a valley fringed by the Jaintia and Khasi hills situated to the north and hills of Tripura to the south. It is the boarder outpost with Meghalaya of India. Sylhet is famous for several and large tea gardens, beautiful forest and peaceful ethnic people. In addition Sylhet is also famous for collecting stones and boulders from the river, a good numbers of HOARS, big natural depressions. These haors turn into seas during rainy seasons and provide a sanctuary to millions of migratory birds fly from Siberia during winter to avoid cold.
Majority of tea gardens are located in Srimongol few miles away from Sylhet town. Visitor may see tea gardens like a green carpet over the plain land around. Sylhet is blended with peaceful Ethnic people belonging to colourful Monipuri and Khasia, Garo and Tripura.
